Active Fellowships

Why a Fellowship?

There is a significant gap between theoretical training in medical schools in India and the ability to apply this training in clinical settings due to paucity of resources. This gap compels clinicians to begin to improvise alternatives, early in their careers, most often in unsupervised settings. Evidence-based medicine frameworks are not adequately applied leading to divergence from recommended pathways.

Over two decades of literature have documented how this lack of adherence to recommended guidelines from a combination of lack of resources, patient expectations, monetary (mal)incentives, and knowledge gaps have contributed to poor clinical and public health outcomes. The Community Science Alliance fellowship seeks to address this knowledge gap head on by providing closely mentored training to new graduates as well as physicians who have already been practicing for some years.

The CSA Fellowship Experience

The fellowship will be a combination of self-learning, group learning, and e-learning, with mentorship and supervision by experts in India and USA.  We expect fellows to dedicate at least 10 hours per week of additional learning time throughout the duration of the fellowship.

Fellows will apply the contextualized clinical pathways in their own practice settings, and will work with a network of faculty mentors and peers to advance their clinical skills in resource-constrained settings.

The fellowship will  include modules in evidence based medicine, leadership development, data and digital literacy, and critical thinking and problem solving.  Daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly programs will ensure a high-touch, high-frequency, learning environment for self-motivated and committed clinicians.

Your Impact

At the conclusion of the fellowship, each fellow will demonstrate evidence-based expertise in the most important clinical care pathways encountered in their practice, be able to critically appraise emerging scientific literature and advocate for change, equity and high quality care in their practice environments.
